Flowing lava from domain-warped noise
In your harnessGodot shaderMIT
Procedural lava with a dark cooled crust floating on glowing molten rock, built from twice domain-warped fractal noise that slowly flows, with emission only on the hot parts.

What it takes and gives
- Shader type
- spatial
- Parameters
- crust_color (vec4 = 0.07, 0.05, 0.05, 1), lava_dark (vec4 = 0.62, 0.07, 0.02, 1), lava_bright (vec4 = 1, 0.66, 0.16, 1), scale (float = 3), flow_speed (float = 0.12), flow_angle_degrees (float = 20), warp_strength (float = 1.8), crust_amount (float = 0.5) and 2 more
- Use it on
- A mesh with UV coordinates.
- Result
- Black crust plates drifting over swirling orange glowing lava.
- Renderers
- compatibility: compiled and rendered, forward plus: not verified, mobile: not verified
- Placement
- res://baltor/godot_shaders/lava_domain_warp/
Limits. Twelve fBm evaluations of four octaves per pixel make it one of the heavier shaders here; lower octaves for mobile. Flat: no displacement or normal relief. UV seams show where the mesh UVs are discontinuous.
