Layered sandstone
In your harnessProcedural textureMIT
Generate tileable PBR maps of layered sandstone: wavy strata of uneven thickness, cross-bedding, differential erosion and optional honeycomb weathering. Use for cliffs, canyon walls, building stone and desert rock.

What it takes and gives
- Entry point
- generate
- Maps
- albedo, normal, roughness, height, ao
- Parameters
- strata, thickness_variation, waviness, cross_bedding, erosion, honeycomb, hue_shift, saturation and 1 more
- Presets
- default, buff, tafoni_coast, swirled, grey_flagstone
- Tileable
- yes
- Command line
- python sandstone_strata.py --size 1024 --seed 7 --preset NAME --out DIR [--width W --height H] [--set NAME=VALUE] [--directx-normal] [--orm]
- Godot material
- material.tres
- Blender builder
- blender_material.build_material(folder)
Limits. Strata run across the tile height, so a wall must be oriented with its bedding horizontal in UV space. Cross-bedding is a periodic lamina pattern, not a sediment simulation. Honeycomb pits are Voronoi cells. Occlusion is a blurred-height estimate.
