Spiral staircase generator
In your harnessBlender toolMIT
Generate a spiral staircase mesh with wedge treads, a central column, balusters and a helical handrail from rise, turn and radius parameters. Use it for towers, lofts and level blockouts.

What it takes and gives
- Operator
- baltor.stairs_spiral
- Parameters
- steps, total_height, turn_degrees, inner_radius, outer_radius, tread_thickness, arc_segments, column_sides and 3 more
- Result
- One mesh object named Spiral Stairs with a UVMap layer; origin at the column base.
- Blender
- 4.2 or later
- Axes
- Blender Z up, -Y forward
- Units
- metres
Limits. One mesh object made of separate closed solids that touch but are not merged, so booleans need a merge first. The handrail is a square section swept along the helix with the section kept vertical, not a circular profile, and the balusters are square posts. Treads are flat slabs with no nosing profile. No building code check is made. Verified in Blender 5.2.1; written for the 4.2 API.
