Swirling portal disc
In your harnessGodot shaderMIT
Unlit portal surface: spiral arms twist toward the centre in polar coordinates, a bright rim ring and a dark core frame it, noise sparkles drift inward, and everything outside the disc is transparent.

What it takes and gives
- Shader type
- spatial
- Render modes
- unshaded, cull_disabled, depth_draw_opaque, shadows_disabled
- Parameters
- outer_color (vec4 = 0.45, 0.15, 0.95, 1), inner_color (vec4 = 0.2, 0.9, 1, 1), core_color (vec4 = 0.02, 0, 0.05, 1), rim_color (vec4 = 1, 0.85, 1, 1), arms (int = 4), twist (float = 6), spin_speed (float = 2), core_radius (float = 0.12) and 3 more
- Use it on
- A quad or disc with UVs spanning 0 to 1; the portal fills the inscribed circle.
- Result
- A spinning purple and cyan spiral disc with a dark centre and a bright outer ring.
- Renderers
- compatibility: compiled and rendered, forward plus: not verified, mobile: not verified
- Placement
- res://baltor/godot_shaders/swirl_portal/
Limits. Flat effect on a card; it has no depth or parallax. The polar angle has a seam where atan wraps, hidden by whole numbers of arms but visible with sparkles at high zoom. Unshaded, so it ignores scene light.
