Batch rename objects by rule

In your harnessBlender toolMIT

Rename many objects at once by rule: strip .001 suffixes, find and replace with optional regular expressions, apply a case style, add a prefix and suffix, and number only the names that would collide. Use it to prepare scenes for export and naming conventions.

Render of Batch rename objects by rule
The render its check recorded in Blender 5.2.1, 192 by 192 pixels.

What it takes and gives

Operator
baltor.util_batch_rename
Parameters
prefix, suffix, find, replace, use_regex, case, strip_duplicate_suffix, numbering and 5 more
Result
Objects renamed in place; the plan is returned as a report.
Blender
4.2 or later
Axes
Blender Z up, -Y forward
Units
metres

Limits. Renames objects and, when they have a single user, their data; materials, collections and other data blocks keep their names. Case splitting is a heuristic for ASCII words and digit runs. Names are cut to 63 bytes, so very long names lose their end. Regular expressions use Python syntax. Verified in Blender 5.2.1; written for the 4.2 API.
