Calculate the maternal mortality ratio per 100,000 live births

baltor_maternal_mortality_ratio

Calculate the maternal mortality ratio per 100,000 live births with exact Poisson confidence bounds from death and birth counts, keeping late maternal deaths out of the ratio and adding companion rates when their denominators are supplied.

Limits and scope

Limits
This is a supporting calculation for SDG target 3.1 on caller-supplied counts, not a modelled national estimate of the kind the UN Maternal Mortality Estimation Inter-agency Group publishes. It does not correct under-registration or misclassification, redistribute deaths with unknown cause, estimate lifetime risk or model trends, and its interval reflects random variation in the count only, not error in the births or in cause coding.
