Lava crust with glowing cracks

In your harnessProcedural textureMIT

Generate tileable PBR maps of a lava flow: dark cooling crust plates with ropy wrinkles over molten cracks, with an emissive map whose colour follows a heat ramp. Use for volcanic ground, forges and fantasy hazards.

Render of Lava crust with glowing cracks
The render its check recorded in Godot 4.7.2, 256 by 256 pixels.

What it takes and gives

Entry point
generate
Maps
albedo, normal, roughness, height, ao, emissive
Parameters
plates_across, crack_width, heat, rim_glow, ropes, fragmentation, hue_shift, saturation and 1 more
Presets
default, cooling, clinker, lava_lake
Tileable
yes
Command line
python lava_crust.py --size 1024 --seed 7 --preset NAME --out DIR [--width W --height H] [--set NAME=VALUE] [--directx-normal] [--orm]
Godot material
material.tres
Blender builder
blender_material.build_material(folder)

Limits. The glow is a colour ramp of crack depth, not a blackbody or flow simulation, and it does not animate. Plates are Voronoi cells. Emission strength must be set in the engine; the map holds colour only. Occlusion is a blurred-height estimate.

Checks
command line generates declared maps, maps decode, maps have declared size and channels, maps tile without a seam, normal vectors unit length facing out, maps carry detail, godot imports the maps, godot material template loads every map, godot compatibility render, capture shows the textured surface, blender builds the material
