HDRI environment world with a solid camera backdrop

In your harnessBlender toolMIT

Build an image-based lighting world from an equirectangular image with rotation, strength and saturation, and optionally show the camera a solid colour while the image still lights the scene and fills reflections. Use it for product shots, look development and outdoor lighting.

Render of HDRI environment world with a solid camera backdrop
The render its check recorded in Blender 5.2.1, 192 by 192 pixels.

What it takes and gives

Operator
baltor.world_hdri_environment
Parameters
image_path, rotation, strength, saturation, backdrop, backdrop_color
Result
A world named Baltor HDRI with the image loaded, set as the scene world.
Blender
4.2 or later
Axes
Blender Z up, -Y forward
Units
metres

Limits. Needs an image file; the demo fixture writes a small 8-bit PNG sky, which lights only roughly because it holds no high dynamic range. No ground projection, sun extraction or importance map tuning. The solid backdrop uses the Light Path node, which Cycles honours fully and EEVEE only partly. Rendered here with Cycles CPU only. Verified in Blender 5.2.1; written for the 4.2 API.
